How to Make Friends and do Musical Improv: Short Form Musical Improv Games Join award winning musical improvisor and educator Robyn Helwig for a joyous romp through the world of short-form musical improv. Learn or review some musical improv basics, practice games, as well as the skills to create your own musical adaptations of your favorite short form classics. This class is designed to be accessible for improvisers with no musical experience, but will also go in depth for more advanced participants. This workshop will cumulate in a performance during the festival! Teacher bio: Robyn Helwig (she/hers) is a Pacific Northwest native who has spent the last decade teaching and performing musical improv throughout the Midwest. She has performed at festivals across North America with her award winning musical improv duo Pandemic! @ the Disco (based at the Backline Comedy Theater in Omaha, NE). Robyn’s brand of musical improv leans heavily into character-driven emotional stakes to highlight absurdism. She is currently living in Oregon with her furry life partner, Pancake (the cat) and their son Lukewarm Tater Tot (also a cat).
