About

Telling the Whole Story with Manifesto Narrative long-form creates a full-length play or story on the spot, complete with a beginning, middle, and end in an 18+ minute set. Manifesto is one of the only active Narrative teams in St. Louis and is comprised of four STL-based coaches who are excited to provide a fun introduction to Narrative long-form. This workshop focuses on creating strong and distinct characters for your source scene, intent listening from the sidelines to make your source characters’ lives better or worse, and patterning opportunities to ultimately save your source characters or drive them apart forever. Manifesto utilizes relationship-based improv, emotional scaling, and Game to power a workshop guaranteed to make your next Narrative show (and the rest of your scenes) fun and impactful. Teacher Bio: Manifesto is a nationally recognized improv, sketch comedy, and film production group based out of St. Louis, Missouri. The group consists of Aj Surrell, Chase Pierce, Jeff Sheary, and Julian Garcia, who are all graduates of The Improv Shop- St. Louis student and coaching training program. The group regularly teaches workshops in scene initiation, object work, base reality, and being a reliable scene partner. Recently, they have been recognized as a national finalist for their work in the Smodcastle Cinemas Annual 37-hour Film Festival, in partnership with director Kevin Smith. Known for their “improvised one-act plays” the group also is proud House Team at The Improv Shop- St. Louis, and recently broke the long-standing Cagematch season record at The Improv Shop with their (some would say miraculous) 12-week run in early 2026.
