7 U.S. Cities With More Live Comedy Than You Think This Week
Looking for a comedy show this week? These seven cities have surprisingly busy calendars from August 31 through September 6, 2026.

When people think about cities for stand-up comedy, the same places usually come to mind: New York. Los Angeles. Maybe Las Vegas.
But that's not where all the comedy is.
Every week, comedians are working clubs, theaters, breweries, bars, independent rooms and spaces you'd probably never think to check individually. That's one of the reasons LaughTrack exists: you shouldn't have to already know where the comedy is to find it.
So we looked at the shows currently in the LaughTrack database for Monday, August 31 through Sunday, September 6 and went hunting for cities with interesting comedy weeks ahead.
Here are seven that stood out.
1. Bend, Oregon
16 upcoming comedy listings across 6 venues

Bend is the easiest choice on this list because this week it temporarily becomes one of the busiest comedy towns in the country.
The Bend Comedy Festival runs September 4–6 and accounts for most of the action, spreading shows around venues including Tower Theatre, Volcanic Theatre Pub, Tin Pan Theater and Open Space Event Studios.
Among the weekend's scheduled events:
- Fahim Anwar — Friday at Tower Theatre
- Don't Tell Comedy All Stars — Friday at Tower Theatre
- Upright Citizens Brigade: ASSSSCAT — Saturday at Tower Theatre
- Geoffrey Asmus — Saturday at Tower Theatre
- The Locals Show — Sunday at Open Space Event Studios
- Cristina Mariani — Sunday at Volcanic Theatre Pub
There's also storytelling, short-form shows, variety comedy and other festival programming throughout the weekend.
And because apparently Bend wasn't busy enough already, “Weird Al” Yankovic is also playing Hayden Homes Amphitheater Sunday night.
If you're anywhere near Central Oregon, this is not a quiet comedy weekend.
2. Miami, Florida
15 upcoming comedy listings across 4 venues

Miami's calendar this week is a good example of why looking beyond the biggest headliner matters.
Yes, there are recognizable names.
Samuel J. Comroe is scheduled at Miami Improv Thursday, followed by Michael Blackson for multiple shows Friday through Sunday.
But there's also comedy happening outside the traditional club format.
Thank You Miami Cocina & Beer House has stand-up scheduled Monday and Friday. Blackbird Ordinary has comedy events Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. And Just the Funny has its BIG Show improv comedy event Saturday night.
That means Miami has comedy ranging from touring-headliner club shows to neighborhood bar comedy over the course of the same week.
You could basically pick a night first and figure out the comedian second.
3. Washington, D.C.
15 upcoming comedy listings across 5 venues

At the DC Comedy Loft and Bier Baron Tavern, the lineup includes Flame Monroe, Gabriel Rutledge, Darius Bennett and Book Smarts over several nights.
Elsewhere around the city, LaughTrack is currently showing:
- The Punch-Line: Summer Finale at Grand Central
- Sinfully-Funny at Sinners and Saints
- The District Comedy Show at Red Lounge Bar & Grill
- Proudly Funny, an all-queer stand-up show, at Sinners and Saints
That's five different venues represented in the week's listings.
4. San Diego, California
16 upcoming comedy listings across 3 venues

San Diego has a particularly busy week at Mic Drop Comedy, but the calendar doesn't stop there.
The club has appearances scheduled from comics including:
There are also themed and showcase events including Muy Funny Comedy Show and Once Upon A Mic.
Outside the club, the week's LaughTrack listings include Liberty Station Stand-Up Comedy Night at Moniker General and Kensington Comedy Night at Mission Brewing.
5. Portland, Oregon
11 upcoming comedy listings across 4 venues

Portland has quality over quantity working in its favor this week.
Mike E. Winfield starts things off Wednesday at Helium Comedy Club.
On Thursday, things get crowded.
Hannibal Buress is scheduled at Revolution Hall while Craig Robinson begins a multi-night run at Helium.
Robinson continues with shows Friday, Saturday and Sunday, while Adrián Uribe brings his 50 y Pico Tour to Portland Saturday night.
That's a pretty good problem to have: Hannibal Buress or Craig Robinson?
Or just keep going out until you've seen everybody.
6. Houston, Texas
A packed club-comedy week with multiple touring headliners

Houston's calendar is heavily concentrated around two established comedy rooms this week: Houston Improv and Punch Line Houston.
The Improv has Zahid Dewji Wednesday before Russell Peters settles in for a run of shows beginning Thursday.
Meanwhile, Punch Line's schedule includes:
- The Medium Spicy Show
- Na'im Lynn
- Comedy Allstars
- Jokes Over Brunch
- Sejoe
It's a particularly strong weekend if you like having options within the traditional stand-up-club format.
And Russell Peters playing multiple shows in the same city while another club runs a completely different slate is exactly the sort of thing that's easy to miss if you only follow one venue.
7. Sacramento, California
12 upcoming comedy listings across 3 venues

Sacramento sneaks onto the list because its calendar has a nice mix of headliner shows and smaller-room comedy.
Martin Amini is scheduled for a run at Punch Line Comedy Club beginning Thursday and continuing through Sunday.
But the Punch Line's smaller Callback Bar has its own programming happening around those shows, including:
- An open mic hosted by Marcus Mangham
- Sacto Stand-Up
- Comedy Allstars
- Aurora Singh
That's what makes local comedy scenes interesting.
The big room gets the recognizable touring name.
The smaller room might be where you find the comedian you'll be paying to see in the big room a few years from now.
The Bigger Point
There are obvious places to look for comedy.
Then there is everywhere else comedy is actually happening.
A club announces a headliner on Instagram. A brewery puts a showcase on Eventbrite. A touring comedian adds a theater date. A local producer runs a room you've never heard of.
Individually, they're easy to miss.
Put them together and a city that didn't seem like a comedy destination suddenly has something happening almost every night.
That's what we're trying to make easier to see.
LaughTrack brings comedy shows from different venues and ticketing sources together so you can see what's happening near you without checking every calendar yourself.
Because finding out a comedian you love was in town from everyone's Instagram photos the next morning is a terrible discovery system.
